What the trials actually showed
These are the published Phase 3 numbers, not marketing. Both studies ran for 72 weeks alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary, and averages are just that: averages.

How to buy safely when prices do arrive
New weight loss medicines attract scammers within days of approval. It happened with Mounjaro and Wegovy, and it will happen with Foundayo. Three checks keep you safe:
- Check the GPhC register. Every legitimate UK online pharmacy is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Search the pharmacy’s name or registration number on the official register before you hand over a penny.
- Expect a proper consultation. Foundayo is prescription only. Any site offering it with no questions asked, or “no prescription needed”, is breaking the law and should be avoided and reported.
- Be suspicious of “stock” before launch. Anyone claiming to sell Foundayo before official UK supply begins is almost certainly selling something else entirely. If a deal looks too early or too cheap, it is.

How much does Foundayo cost in the UK?
No UK pricing has been released yet, as approval only came on 10 August 2026. For a rough sense of scale, the US self-pay launch price was 149 to 349 dollars per month depending on dose, but UK private pharmacy prices are set independently and may differ. Is Foundayo approved in the UK?
Yes. The MHRA authorised Foundayo (orforglipron) on 10 August 2026 for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition, and separately to improve blood sugar control in adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes. The UK is the first country in Europe to approve it.
Can I get Foundayo on the NHS?
Not at the moment. MHRA approval means it can legally be prescribed privately, but NHS availability requires a separate evaluation by NICE, which follows the standard process for new treatments. Until that concludes, Foundayo is private prescription only.
How is Foundayo different from the Wegovy pill?
Both are daily GLP-1 tablets, but Foundayo is a small molecule rather than a peptide, which means it can be taken at any time of day with no food or water restrictions. Is Foundayo the same as Mounjaro?
No, though both are made by Eli Lilly. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a weekly injection that targets two hormone receptors, and its trials showed larger average weight loss. Who should not take Foundayo?
Foundayo carries the GLP-1 class warning about thyroid C-cell tumours seen in rodent studies: it should not be taken by anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or with MEN 2 syndrome. It should not be combined with other GLP-1 medicines. A prescriber will review your full history; the Patient Information Leaflet, published on the MHRA Products website, is the definitive list.
