Why most "discount code" sites waste your time

Search almost any treatment plus "discount code" and you will find pages stuffed with codes that expired months ago, codes invented to earn a click, and "exclusive" codes that are simply the site-wide offer everyone gets. It is a low-effort, high-traffic business, and in a prescription market it is worse than useless: it sends people chasing phantom savings toward providers nobody has verified.

Our rule is dull and effective. A code appears on Dayo only when a person has applied it at that provider's checkout and seen the price drop. If it cannot be reproduced, it is not published.

What we record for every code

  • The provider, verified through our full pharmacy checks before any code of theirs is listed.
  • The actual saving in pounds or percent, and which orders or steps it applies to.
  • The conditions: new customers only, minimum spend, first order only, subscription commitment, or exclusions.
  • The follow-on price, so a cheap first month with an expensive second month cannot masquerade as a bargain.
  • The date we last confirmed it worked.

How to use a code without getting caught out

  • Check the total, not the discount. A large percentage off an inflated price beats nothing. Compare the final checkout figure against our retail price list.
  • Match the code to your step. Several providers now run tiered codes worth far more at the starting step than at later ones. Our steps guide explains which step you are on.
  • Read what happens next month. Introductory codes are designed to win a customer, not to be permanent. Budget for the standard price at the step you will settle at.
  • Watch for subscription lock-ins. The cheapest code often requires committing to several months. That can be fine once you know treatment suits you, and a bad idea before you do.
  • A code never overrides the consultation. These are prescription-only treatments. No discount changes whether treatment is clinically appropriate for you, and any provider implying otherwise is one to avoid.

Codes are a red-flag magnet

"Discount code" searches are exactly where fake pharmacies fish for customers, and a newly launched treatment multiplies the risk. Anyone offering prescription treatment without a consultation, or at a price far below the market, is not offering you what they claim. Two minutes with our fake pharmacy guide is the best-value thing on this page.

Nick Johnson Founder and healthcare pricing analyst, Medstack Ltd

Nick founded Monj, iGovy, Ogovy and Dayo to bring honest, checkout-price comparison and provider verification to the UK weight management medicine market. His background is in IT and data, not pharmacy, which is exactly why the sites stay independent: no provider can buy a ranking, and awkward findings get published. Read more about Dayo and the team.
